A breakthrough of culture and creativity, the Festival felicitates the Challenge winners, and features national-international speakers from numerous creative industries. 15k people from 146 cities spanning 5 different countries have revelled in the spirit of creation and collaboration in the 10 years of the IFP Festival.

General

  1. The 50 Hour Music Challenge is open to participants from across the globe.
  2. The song can be in any language. Regardless of the language of the track, the team is required to send the lyrics in the Romanized text and the English translation of the same.
  3. Each team will select their genre during registration. Teams can change their genre in the registration form before registration closes.
  4. Team members will receive the theme online on IFP’s Instagram, as well as on the registered Team Leader’s Email ID and WhatsApp.
  5. All the Winning tracks will be promoted and distributed by IFP on all the affiliated channels.
  6. All team members must be volunteers, meaning they are participating without receiving payment for their services. This ensures the spirit of the challenge remains focused on creativity and collaboration.
  7. The team can have a minimum of 1 person and a maximum of 10 people, including singers. E-certificates will be awarded only to registered team members and sent to the email address provided during registration.
  8. Once participation is confirmed, refunds will not be issued.

 

Tech

  1. Music-making hours are scheduled from STARTING DATE (TBA) (GMT+5:30) to END DATE (TBA) (GMT+5:30).
  2. The entire song must be created within the 50 hour timeframe. Pre-composed music or lyrics will result in disqualification.
  3. A compulsory element will be given to the team at the beginning of the challenge. Teams must adhere to the theme, genre, and include the compulsory element to qualify.
  4. The finished song should be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes.
  5. The final master should be professionally recorded using microphones (condenser or dynamic), properly mixed and mastered in a noiseless environment for optimal sound quality. The final song must be mastered in 16-bit, stereo, and 44.1kHz and uploaded in uncompressed WAV format.
  6. The uploaded song file size must be strictly below 100 MB. The file name should be your Creator ID (e.g., MU2100.wav).
  7. Using sound samples and sampling from existing songs is prohibited, except for royalty-free sound samples, which require proper credit in the lyrics document.
  8. The track must be an original work and must not infringe any third-party rights. It must be suitable for publication. The track must not contain any copyrighted elements not owned by the team.

 

Submission

  1. Participants must submit their song via the upload link provided to the Team Leader. The upload link will be sent at the beginning of the challenge.
  2. Along with the song, teams must submit lyrics in a PDF document (maximum file size 5MB) following the provided sample format (Courier font, size 12). The file name should be your Creator ID (e.g., MU2100.pdf). For non-English songs, provide Romanized lyrics and an English translation in the same document. [Link to Sample Lyrics Document]
  3. Each team must submit the signed Creator’s Agreement for all team members along with the upload. These documents will be sent to the Team Leader via email at the start of the 50-hour challenge. The track will not be evaluated until the signed agreements are received. [Link to Agreement]
  4. Teams are ideally expected to keep 48 hours for music making and 2 hours for upload. A 4-hour extension will be granted for genuine technical difficulties. However, late submissions will be penalized: 0-1 hour late: 5% deduction; 1-2 hours late: 7.5% deduction; 2-4 hours late: 10% deduction.

 

Evaluation

  1. Your submission will be evaluated based on: Creativity and originality, Lyrics, Melody, Structure, Adherence to the theme, Adherence to the chosen genre, and Incorporation of the compulsory element.

 

Disclaimer

  1. The track must not contain any material that violates personal rights, religious beliefs, incites violence, makes derogatory remarks about someone’s sexuality or belief, invades privacy, or infringes on the rights of any person, firm, or entity.
  2. Teams are requested to keep the original recordings and project files for three years after submission. IFP may choose to utilise these tracks for various purposes, requiring the highest quality.
  3. IFP may add to or amend these rules at any time before the music challenge begins without prior notice.
  4. Tracks containing prohibited or inappropriate content, as determined by IFP and its partners, will be disqualified.

Teams can explore the following sub-genres within their chosen genre for inspiration:

  • ELECTRONIC: Psychedelic, House, EDM, Techno
  • HIPHOP: Rap, Trap, Pop-Rap
  • FOLK FUSION: Indie, Fusion, Classical, Folk
  • Q: I live outside the host country. Can I participate?
    • A: Absolutely! IFP welcomes entries from around the globe.
  • Q: Is there a registration fee?
    • A: Yes, there is a registration fee of INR 500 (USD 6). Payment is made online to confirm your registration. You will receive a unique Creator ID via email upon confirmation.
  • Q: In what language can I make my song?
    • A: You can create your song in any language you choose. However, if it is in a language other than English or Hindi, you must submit a translation in the lyrics document.
  • Q: What are the sub-genres mentioned with the genres?
    • A: The sub-genres are provided for inspiration and exploration within your chosen genre. They are not mandatory categories. For example, if you select “Rock” as your genre, you can draw inspiration from sub-genres like Hard Rock, Funk, Grunge, Alternative, or Punk, but your final song will simply be entered in the Rock category.

  • Q: What is the evaluation criteria?

  • Q: What should be the duration of the song?
    • A: The song should be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes.

    • A: No, end credits are not included in the duration of your song. They can be a maximum of 20 seconds.
  • Q: Can I use more than one genre?
    • A: No. You must select one primary genre for your song (e.g., Rock, Pop, Electronic, Hip Hop, or Folk Fusion). While you can draw influence from other genres, the song should clearly fall within your selected category.
  • Q: Can my song be only music or only vocals?
    • A: No. Your song must include both music and lyrics.
  • Q: Can I modify the song after the challenge?
    • A: Yes, you can modify the song after the challenge, but you must include the credit: “This song was made for IFP – 50 Hour Music Challenge” in the song’s metadata or description.
  • Q: Can I participate in multiple IFP challenges?
    • A: Yes, you can participate in other IFP challenges using the same email ID. However, each challenge requires a separate registration fee, and you will receive a separate Creator ID for each.
  • Q: Who will judge my song?
    • A: Each song will be judged by an eminent jury with extensive industry experience who gives their scores to all the art works sent as per the evaluation criteria.
  • Q: Can I use stock sounds?
    • A: Stock music and backing tracks from stock music websites are strictly prohibited. You must create your track from scratch. However, royalty-free sound samples (e.g., from sample packs, DAWs, Splice, Loopcloud) are allowed and must be credited in the lyrics document.
  • Q: Is there a limit on the number of instruments I can use?
    • A: No, there is no limit on the number of instruments you use.
  • Q: Can we have additional singers in our team?
    • A: The total number of team members, including singers, cannot exceed 10.
  • Q: Can I modify my team after I have registered?
    • A: Yes. You can modify your team anytime before the registration deadline (August 22, 11:59 PM).
  • Q: How can I modify my team?
    • A: On the IFP website, go to the 50 Hour Music Challenge page and scroll down to click “Edit Profile.” You will find the “Edit Profile” button in the top right corner of the pop-up window.
  • Q: Can we add our band intro to the start/end of the song?
    • A: You can include your band intro or any additional information in the 20-second end credits only. The main song content must conclude before the credits.
  • Q: I am a participant from outside India. What standard time should we follow for the 50 hours?
    • A: The standard time for the challenge is Indian Standard Time (IST), GMT+5:30.
  • Q: What can be the team size?
    • A: A team can have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10 registered members. Only registered members will receive e-certificates from IFP.
  • Q: What about our song after the challenge?
    • A: You can use your song in various ways after the final results are announced at the festival.
  • Q: I can’t find a team member. Can IFP help?
    • A: IFP will provide a link to an Instagram post specifically curated to help you connect with creators. [Link to Instagram Post]
  • Q: Can I sponsor this event?

  • Q: Is it compulsory for me to upload song lyrics?

    • A: The upload link will be sent to the Team Leader’s email address at the beginning of the challenge.
  • Q: Do I need to sign a Creator Agreement?
    • A: Yes. All participants must sign a Creator Agreement. This agreement protects both your rights as a creator and IFP’s rights as a platform.
  • Q: Is it an online challenge, or do I need to be in Mumbai?
    • A: The challenge is completely online. You can participate and submit from anywhere.
  • Q: What happens after I’ve submitted my work?
    • A: If your song is nominated, you will receive an email notification along with the further steps that you would need to follow.
  • Q: What about the album art?
    • A: The 50 Hour album art will be shared by the IFP team during the submission process.
  • Q: What if the compulsory element is related to Theme and Category?
    • A: The compulsory element might relate to the overall theme of the challenge or the specific category you have chosen. It will be designed to add an extra layer of creativity and challenge to your song. Be sure to incorporate it thoughtfully, even though it doesn’t need to be the central focus of your song.

What is the festival all about?
IFP is a multi-staged creativity & culture festival that happens across two days with more than 180+ prominent creators from Films & OTT, Digital, Literature & Writing, Music, Design & Art, Storytelling, Audio & Podcasting, Photography, Tech & Gaming, Comedy, Culture, Advertising and Performing arts who will participate in various Conversations, Panels, Workshops, Masterclasses, Live Performances, and AMAs.

 

Are there any hidden charges?
No, only GST will be levied on the tickets as per the government’s rules and regulations.

 

When and where is the festival happening?
The festival is scheduled to take place on-ground in  Mumbai on December 6th & 7th, 2025.

 

Is the festival accessible for People of Determination?
Yes, IFP is an all-inclusive and accessible festival. We will be tying up with an accessibility management agency to ensure the same.

 

Can I attend all the sessions?
Yes, you will have access to all the sessions taking place across all 2 days. However Stage entry and seating will be on a first come first serve basis.

Will there be an award ceremony for the challenges?
Yes, the winners of all the challenges of IFP will be awarded during the festival. Kindly check the schedule regarding the same.

 

What will be the timings of the festival?
The first session on October 12 & 13, 2024 (i.e. Saturday and Sunday) will start at 10am and the last session will end at 9pm.

 

I’m a member of the media? How do I make arrangements for a media pass?
You can  fill-up the form with relevant details and request for media invite.

 

Wow, there are lots of artists taking sessions! Will I get to personally interact with them?
There is no guarantee, however, you could plan for the questions you would want to ask in the event and if you are lucky, you will get an opportunity to ask them.

 

Will there be food at the venue?
Yes, there will be a food zone at the festival. 

 

Will there be parking at the venue?
No, there will be no parking available at the venue.

 

Is there any age limit/rule?
No. The festival is open to all ages.

What is your ticket policy?
Tickets are purchased online through our (platform) and on-ground on festival days. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

 

What are some of the general measures that ensure safety in all forms at the festival?
Harassment, abuse , stalking, threatening or defaming/ violating any rights (right to privacy and publicity) is not allowed and will be taken seriously. Attendees are not allowed to carry any harmful substances, weapons or arms of any kind.
